God's Show - Better than Man's

Every year my wife and I travel down here to beautiful Carolina Beach, North Carolina. It's been her family's vacation spot for nearly 20 years and this evening I have to tell you it's been wonderful. This sleepy little surfer town is one of those developing tourist attractions, near Olde Town Wilmington and right at the southern base of the Outer Banks, it's a great place to vacation. This evening, God proved it to me once again!

Every Thursday night through the summer time at 9:00 the local Mariott pays to set off fireworks right along the shoreline. It's a nice little show and when you're sitting on the sands with a cool ocean breeze to your back, it makes for a fun evening. Well, tonight they had to start the show early. A storm was rolling in from the south and it was clear that it was gonna pour.

It was kind of funny. As you looked up the beach you saw a great fireworks show. The achievements of man lit up the sky with heart pounding pops and booms and crowds gathered to cheer and awe. And then as you looked down the shoreline, clouds billowed and lightning bolts lit up the heavens. The beauty of packed black powder paled in comparison to God's showing. You could hear the thunder over the screaming pops and the small flashes of colored light at the Mariott were nearly lost in the daylight that came from the lightning. It's cool, God is God and He will not be dethroned. His show was so great that even before the fireworks were over people started looking down the shoreline in eager anticipation of the next showtime.
