Solutions for Tough TimesJust in case you've been living in a cave for the past year let me tell you that the economy is in the toilet, the politicians don't have a clue how to fix it, and the world is busy playing the blame game-that is when they're not bombing one another. It's pretty grim. And you might be tempted to take the Ostrich approach to life by sticking your head in the sand and pretending that everything is just peachy, but sooner or later, life is going to bite you in the butt and you're going to realize that globalization is real and no one is immune from the world economy. So where do you go? What do you do? Who do you rely on? It's simple--God!
I know, I know, it sounds too simple. If you're a skeptic, you're probably wondering, "Jason, isn't relying on God just like sticking your head in the sand?" Well not really. First of all, Ostriches DON'T actually put their head in the sand (the photo is doctored), but more importantly neither do Christians! As a Christ follower, I pray to God and I come to God with all my needs, but I don't stop there. I then get up and do something. I do something that will benefit someone else. I organize people to reach out to others, to lead the way. I live my life reliant on God, but that does not mean I spend my life waiting for God to "magically" fix things. I go out there and follow God's guidance and obey God's rules and inevitably God carries me through.
It's tough to do and it takes a lifetime of practice, but the good thing is that God gives us a lifetime to practice before we have to make an accounting face to face. That's living life. That's surviving tough times. That's being "Reliant On Him".
